Frequently Asked Questions

What is Yonly?

Yonly is the next generation of online security, powered by Bitdefender.

What does it do?
  • encrypts web traffic and protects your browsing information from being collected
  • protects the information about apps that run on the device
  • blocks links that contain malware, phishing and other scams
  • increases Internet speed
What technology does it use?

We have developed our own in-house technology for Yonly. It offers encrypted DNS, domain filtering, IP monitoring and anomalies monitoring.

Is Yonly a VPN?

A VPN only encrypts your Internet traffic and masks your IP address. With Yonly you get much more than that: a fast DNS service, anti-malware, anti-fraud & anti-tracker protection.

All packed in one app, without requiring an account. All you have to do is switch Yonly on and forget about online dangers.

Then why does it have a VPN icon? What's the difference?

Yonly is tunneling the traffic through a local VPN to be able to filter all connections, without the classical downside of a VPN: Internet speed loss and battery drain.

Do you store my online traffic?

No personal data is collected. With Yonly your privacy is 100% safe. All debugging logs generated by the app are automatically deleted from our servers after three days.

Yonly exists exactly for your online privacy and security. Doing otherwise, we’d not just disappoint you, we’d be out of business.

What are the benefits of using Yonly?

Yonly is the easy & proper way to keep private on the Internet. After all, Yonly stands for “you only”. Because you and only you should have access to your data. Not your internet provider, not other personal data hijackers.

With Yonly, next time you go online, you’ll be practically invisible. Thus unrestricted by your data privacy and data security concerns. Say goodbye to profiling, identity theft, unwarranted access to your personal data, online tracking or being targeted with ads. All possible now with Yonly.

Imagine becoming unlimited. Just like you should be in 2020.

Threats may be lurking around every corner of the Internet, but you have Yonly to detect them and keep them away. Every step you take online, Yonly has your back. So browse freely and confidently, you are protected from malware, phishing, cryptocurrency mining and fraud. Welcome to the next generation of online security!

Yonly makes your Internet faster. This means you’ll browse more for the same money you’re paying now for your mobile internet. The Bitdefender DNS service we’re using is premium, significantly faster than any standard internet provider DNS.

It’s so very easy. There’s not really much you have to do. Just download Yonly. Open it and with just a touch of a button you are prepared for the Internet of today. No account required. Turn it on. Leave it ON.

Yonly detected a website as malicious and I think it’s not (False Positive):

A false positive, also known as a false detection or false alarm, is a legitimate website wrongly detected by Yonly as being infected. It occurs a webpage performs an action that appears to the antivirus program to be a virus-like activity.

We strive to reduce false-positive reports to a minimum. However, Yonly may on occasion mistakenly flag a safe website as a threat (a false positive).

If you suspect a false positive, submit it to us for analysis at

Once confirmed, false positives are corrected within hours via an automatic update.

Yonly detected a website as malicious and I think it’s not (False Positive):

A false negative is the opposite of a false positive A false negative occurs when Yonly fails to detect an infection.

Yonly detects about 99.51% of viruses in the wild, so it is possible, although very unlikely, that a virus will get past its filters. This happens mainly because new malware is released continuously and there is a time gap between the moment a virus is created and the moment we add detection for it.

If you suspect a false negative, submit it to Yonly for further analysis at

Once confirmed, false negatives are corrected within hours via an automatic update of Yonly.

Why does Yonly disconnect randomly?

We’ve seen cases on Android in which another VPN or Privacy app disconnects Yonly. To check if this is the case, go into the VPN settings on your phone, tap on the apps that you see there and verify if any of them has the Always ON option activated.

Turn it on, leave it on

There’s not really much you have to do, Yonly does it for you.

Download it, open it and turn it ON to turn your Internet private.
